Praia Grande
This beach is located south of the lake Araruama, has fine white sand, green but cold waters, and is quite famous for surfing. The beach and the surrounding scenery here, with its natural sand dunes and wide beaches, is spectacular! The beach is not very crowded and a good option if you want to have a break from the crowds in Cabo Frio and Buzios or even Rio, if you don’t mind the two hour drive to get there.
When looking eastward, the mountain on the peninsula Arraial do Cabo situated south of Cabo Frio, very much resembles Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa.
