Kitesurfing in Jeri
The first spot was right in front of the beach of Jericocoara, well known amongst windsurfers eager to catch some perfect wave formations. Unfortunately, this particular spot is reserved for windsurfers only. Two years ago though, when kiteboarding was not so popular in Jeri, it was open for kiteboarding and it used to be lots of fun riding down these perfect waves…Now, kiteboarders are supposed to go kiting a bit farther south at the Praia Prea, where the locals have organized an exclusive kiteboarding spot and even give kiteboarding lessons, which we cannot recommend for beginners. Advanced kitesurfers should be prepared to face very gusty and severe conditions in general. Wind range from 15 to 28 knots…
The wind was gusty at an average speed of 22 knots with lulls of 15 and gusts of 28 knots., We decided to rig the Rhino 8 and went in, but the wind was too unstable to really enjoy it, so we unrigged and drove back to Jeri to ask the locals about other spots with more favorable conditions. Some locals suggested that we should check out some lagoons surrounded by dunes about 30 minutes from where we were; Lagoa do Paraiso and Lagoa Azul (Paradise lagoon and Blue lagoon).
